The infrastructure tier: Turnkey and Crossmint productise agent money movement

Turnkey Agentic Payments

Turnkey announced Agentic Payments on 25 June 2026: production infrastructure combining non-custodial agent wallets, transaction lifecycle management, gas sponsorship, real-time balances and policy controls in one system. The pitch is assembly cost — teams stop stitching a signer, a policy engine and a broadcaster together for every agent they deploy.

The design point worth reading closely is where policy is evaluated. Turnkey's model puts allow/deny logic in front of the signing operation itself, which is the only placement that bounds blast radius when an agent is prompted into an unintended transfer.

Crossmint's two-rail approach

Crossmint sells agent wallets alongside virtual cards, covering both stablecoin settlement with x402 support and card-network payments through Visa Intelligent Platform, with tokenised card details and programmatic guardrails. Its June 2026 agentic cards API launch let agents in platforms such as OpenClaw, Claude Code and Hermes pay with eligible US-issued Visa cards.

Why the tier exists

Coinbase, MetaMask and Cobo sell agent wallets as products. Turnkey and Crossmint sell the ability to issue them. As the category matures, most agent wallets end users touch will be white-labelled from this tier, which makes its policy defaults — not the branded front end — the real determinant of how safe the category is.
